Disassembly (Sega Multi Mega)
Start by removing the single black Philips screws from the right side.

Remove the Philips screw on the left side that is between the LINE OUT and VOLUME text.
The other screw to the top left is the hinge for the CD lid and doesn't need removing.

Remove the Philips screw no the back.

Remove the 4 long Philips screws from the bottom.

The bottom lid now lifts off.
Then the copper shield peels back.

Lift out the motherboard from the rear left side (so rear right when looking at it upside down) as it is now held in place by a connector with long pins.
You will also have to pry out the front controller connectors carefully by moving the motherboard to the rear as you lift it out.

Disconnect the battery connector to free the motherboard.

Remove the 7 screws from the metal shield, leaving the one in the recess on the far left.

If you break this connection here, it is a 1nF capacitor use for capacitive coupling of the ground shields. It is not needed.

Finally, lift out the top PCB and laser assembly in one. Lifting from the side opposite the Phones connector works best.
