Resolutions

RGBHV over VGA supports the following resolutions officially at the time of release:

  • VGA 60/70Hz 640 × 480
  • SVGA 60Hz 800 × 600
  • XGA 60Hz 1024 × 768
  • SXGA 60Hz 1280 × 1024
  • SXGA 60Hz 1280 × 960
  • WXGA 60Hz 1280 × 768
  • WXGA 60Hz 1366 × 768
  • WXGA 60Hz 1280 × 800
  • WXGA++ 60Hz 1600 × 900

Some less common modes are:

  • 640 × 350 or 640 × 200 in 16 colors or monochrome (EGA/CGA compatibility)
  • 320 × 200 in 256 colors (Mode 13h)
  • 320 × 200 in 4 or 16 colors (CGA compatibility)

There are many resolutions VGA can support by simply altering the pixel clock, timings and quality of the sender and receiver. Unofficially the VGA connector using RGBHV can today support right up to 2048x1536.
