Ribbon Connections (Panasonic Q)
There are many, many parts to the Panasonic Q and its array of ribbon connectors.
I have labelled them all for easier reference. Most of them connect to the Side Board.
- Connector A --> Side Board Board
- Connector P --> AC Power Board
- Connector O --> Optical Decoder Board
- Connector R --> Optical Decoder Board
- Connector S --> Front Board
The front board has two connectors joining the controllers and buttons to the rest of the circuit.
Connector S goes to the Top Lid board.
The GameCube controllers come from the front board into the console board via connector F.
- Connector A --> Top Board
- Connector B --> AV Decoder PCB
- Connector C --> AV Decoder PCB
- Connector E --> AV Decoder PCB
As well as Connector B, C and E going back to the Side Board, there are a few more.
Connector H connects the AV Decoder board on top, to the Optical Drive PCB below as shown in the image above.
The optical decoder PCB controls the disc drive.
It has a connector H between it and the AV Decoder board.
The Optical Decoder board receives power from Connector O coming from the Top Lid.
Connector R connects the Optical Decoder to the Top Lid.
Connector Q is the trim settings for the laser of the optical laser assembly.
The laser assembly (the actual laser and photo diode) are connected to the Optical Decoder board via connector V.
The GameCube receives power from the power from the power board on connectors L and J.
In addition to this, there is an AV port ribbon connector G.
The join between the Optical Decoder board and the GameCube is done via the Connector D.
The GameCube as well as digital AV out has a connector T that outputs composite video and audio to the side board.
