Re-key DVD Drive (Xbox 360)

each xbox 360 is paired with a specific dvd drive via a key extracting dvd key the simplest way to extract this is to rgh your console first (follow our guide) then start your console with the eject button to launch xelllaunch which will output the dvd key once you have this key you then need to re flash your desired dvd drive with this new key direct to pc connection now the goal is to connect this dvd drive to a pc using a normal sata cable, and custom make a female molex power cable most modern motherboards sata are not compatible with the software used to do this if you proceed with the direct connection to pc and find you get a no i/o ports were found during enumeration! message it is likely not compatible instead, buy a usb to sata adapter that is compatible here you need a pc with a sata cable, and then a donor power cable from the xbox 360 console to connect to the dvd drive, and a female molex connector to power the dvd drive from a pc molex plug note that molex connectors don't have 3 3v but for what we are doing it doesn't need the 3 3v once you are done you end up with a cable like this (my one has both male and female molex on just in case the pc has a different end) test you have wired it correctly by inserting it into the xbox 360 first and measuring with a multimeter the output molex black is ground, red should be 5v and yellow should be 12v now, connect up the dvd drive to your pc in theory you could connect the stock dvd power cable to the xbox 360 and power it on, with the sata connected to your pc however, i would not recommend this as you have two different grounds, one from the xbox internal power regulation and the other from the pc make sure to keep your hdmi/av cable plugged in if doing this way, otherwise the console could power off during flashing x360 usb pro connection the much simpler approach (especially considering most pcs sata ports are not compatible with the xbox 360 drives anyway) is to use an x360 usb pro purchase it here this is basically just a via via 6421 pci card to usb converter, along with the cables needed to power the drive this allows you to connect the dvd drives to your pc via usb for the power you can use an external molex power supply , otherwise still use the custom molex power cableto power the drive you must find and download the drivers for this which are called typically 26755 ck3i drivers rar for the ck3i drivers and 26756 x360usbpro drivers zip for the x360 pro drivers both are needed otherwise you see this once you download them extract the contents, go to device manager, right click each device, select probe if you have a lite on drive, you will also need a probe like this you will see how to use this later jungleflasher setup connect the dvd to power from the pc or external power, and the drive directly via sata to your pc, or via the x360 sata to usb converter to your pc usb port download jungleflasher 0 1 96 and latest ixtreme and stock firmware pack search online for those extract both folders in the jungleflasher folder go into the libusb and portio folders and move the contents up to the top level jungerflasher folder now your folder should look like this now move the contents of the latest ixtreme and stock firmware pack folders firmware folder into the jungerflasher\firmware folder now your jungerflasher\firmware should now look like this disable driver signature before running jungleflasher exe , if using the direct to pc method (not the x360 usb pro) restart windows 10/11 by holding shift before clicking restart then select troubleshoot > advanced options > startup settings and restart then once the new screen pops up press 7 for disable driver signature enforcement this allows junglerunner to install the drivers for the drive if you do not do this step, you will get this warning (you can ignore this warning if using the x360 usb pro) preventing trojan virus very, very important is to first prevent this jungleflasher software from infecting your pc this isn't the software directly but the fact it tries to load some old website (jungleflasher net) in the background for irc chat and that website is now compromised press windows key then type notepad to show notepad hold ctrl + shift and press enter to run notepad as admin go to file > open then into c \windows\system32\etc change the file type to all and open the hosts file at the bottom of the file enter 0 0 0 0 junglerunner net to disable that website on your pc, so jungleflasher cannot access it now you are safe to run the software finding dvd drive if everything has gone well, the dvd drive is connected to the pc and powered, and you have opened up jungleflasher it should show some information in the main page make sure you disabled jungleflasher net website or disconnect your internet when doing this otherwise you will get a virus this website will redirect and infect your computer initially it will complain about can't install portio64, and no i/o ports found if you are using a usb pro and not disabled sigantures, then after you click ok to them nothing happens for about 30 seconds while it discovers the dvd sometimes then it will open the app if the drive isn't powered, the drivers aren't working (because your pc sata doesn't support the drive) or some other error, you would get this message and no information displayed you will get this error always if using usb device so it can be ignored in that instance confirm all your setup is correct and try again flashing samsung drive if your drive is a samsung drive, use the mtkflash 32 tab this should show the drive properties, vendor, name, firmware etc click sammy unlock and ignore the warning clicking yes (unless this drive has previously been unlocked with older versions of the software then follow the warning) now the drive properties shoud say drive in vendor mode click read to read in the firmware when it pops up the file save, save the bin file to somewhere you want this is the stock firmware next it asks you to auto load ltplus click yes now in the first tab it should show lt v2 01 in the firmware type area click save drive key and keep that somewhere this is the original dvd key we will be changing this but it is still a good idea to back it up now edit the dvd key in the target text box with the new key you got from the console you want to pair it to click save to file to now save this modified firmware binary with the new lt v2 01 firmware and new dvd key save it somewhere safe go back to mtkflash 32 and click write this will write this new firmware back to the drive once done, exit vendor mode with the outro / ata reset button now the vendor text should say the vendor such as tsstcorp and not drive in vendor mode 79 hitachi drive unlock if you have a 79 drive (the fw rev property shows 0079 ), you will first need to unlock it search the internet for hitachi 79 unlock rar and download and extra that the link in jungleflasher hitachi gdr3120 tab labelled install the 79 unlock audio cd used to link to the download but it is dead now the folder should look like this use imgburn to burn this to a cd go to the hitachi gdr3120 and select send mode b to enter mode b, then click `open to open the drive, insert the disc, and click close wait a few seconds for it to spin up, then click the 79 unlock button once the drive ejects itself, it should be unlocked now use the open and close buttons to remove the 79 unlock disc so it isn't left in the drive flashing hitachi drive go to the hitachi gdr3120 tab and make sure dump drive radio button is selected, then click read to source and save the file somewhere this is the original firmware in firmwaretool 32 tab select save drive key and save that too, just to back it up now edit the dvd key in the target text box with the new key you got from the console you want to pair it to go back to the hitachi gdr3120 tab and select the flash lt plus radio button then the flash lt plus button below it to write the new firmware flashing benq drive go to the mtk flash 32 tab, and click benq unlock now the drive properties shoud say drive in vendor mode click read to read in the firmware when it pops up the file save, save the bin file to somewhere you want this is the stock firmware next it asks you to auto load ltplus click yes now in the first tab it should show lt plus 3 0 in the firmware type area click save drive key and keep that somewhere this is the original dvd key we will be changing this but it is still a good idea to back it up now edit the dvd key in the target text box with the new key you got from the console you want to pair it to click save to file to now save this modified firmware binary with the new lt firmware and new dvd key save it somewhere safe go back to mtkflash 32 and click write this will write this new firmware back to the drive once done, exit vendor mode with the outro / ata reset button now the vendor text should say the vendor such as tsstcorp and not drive in vendor mode flashing lite on drive for the lite on drives, instead of connecting the power using the custom cable we made, connect the probe cable with the power button end to the dvd drive, and the other end to the xbox and use the xbox to power this drive when needed, the probe tip we will touch on mpx01/mpx02 test point on the bottom of the drive pcb (to the left of the large black chip) go to the dvdkey 32 tab, and click phat key it will error with mtk vedor intro failed popup now on the probe cable, while the dialog box is open on the pc, hold down the power button on the probe cable to turn the light off on the probe now touch the probe on the mpx01 test point (the one where the mpx01 text partially cuts off touching), then let go of the power button so basically the probe led will be off while we touch the probe on the point, then we let go of the power button so it comes back on finally, hit yes on the dialog on the pc, and it should now say extract complete now follow the instructions in the prompt remove the probe, disconnect the power from the drive (do not turn off the xbox, just remove the power cable from the drive), wait 5 seconds, and reconnect the power cable to the drive hit ok on the dialog, and it should pop up a save dialog to save a bunch of files save them all to one folder next it asks you to auto load ltplus click yes now in the first tab it should show lt plus 3 0 in the firmware type area now edit the dvd key in the target text box with the new key you got from the console you want to pair it to click save to file to now save this modified firmware binary with the new lt v2 01 firmware and new dvd key save it somewhere safe go back to mtkflash 32 and click lite on erase , it will warn that target f/w doesn't match , ignore it and click yes three times as soon as you see the 's appearing in the status text box at the bottom, quickly unplug and re plug the drives power cable to power cycle the drive if done right it should move on to serial flash found and go into drive in vendor mode in the vendor section finally, click write to flash the new firmware once done, exit vendor mode with the outro / ata reset button now the vendor text should say the vendor such as `plds and not drive in vendor mode
