Power Up Basics (Panasonic 3DO)
There are various models of the 3DO, but they all power up very similarly. This information is based on the FZ-1 variant.
The 3DO has various models from around the world. Some power up from 100-110V and others 230-240V. Make sure you power it with the right voltage.
Turning on power to the mains should pull around 20mA. No LEDs or anything visible will happen on the console until you power it on.
Once you press the power button a red READY LED should come on, and one second later the green ACCESS LED should come on (and go off after 5 seconds if no disc is detected).
The screen should output a black screen for around 5 seconds (if no disc), followed by the 3DO logo then REAL logo.
After 15 seconds since power on you should get to the insert CD screen.
Notably there is no audio until the screen saver appearing 25 seconds after boot.
After another 10 seconds (so 25 seconds from power up) the screen saver will start if there is no activity.
The screen saver will have audio of the rocks flying by the screen, and the rock hitting the screen when the word REAL appears.
Power draw is 150-180mA during typical operation and 180-250mA when the CD is spinning.
