Sega NAOMI 2
Glitched Graphics (Sega NAOMI 2)
1min
Glitched graphics such as flashing, checkerboard, random blocks or color distortion are all caused by:
- Power-VR2 chips (IC15, IC110)
- Their RAM (IC16-23, IC111 to IC118)
- In rare cases, the video encoder chips (IC5, IC41)
- In rare cases, the CLPD to video encoders (IC7)
- Trace damage between any of the above chips
The most common by far are the RAM chips.
An example was IC111 RAM was faulty on one pin and caused a black and white checkerboard pattern over the whole screen.
