Denise (Amiga 500)

1min

The Denise (Display Enabler) is primarily the visual output IC.

It uses up to 6 bitplane data registers to get the display data that Agnus retrieves from chip RAM via its DMA pins.

The bitplane data is output as 12-bit digital RGB output values (4 bit per color).

The RGB output goes through some resistors, capacitors and buffers before outputting on the AV port.

Denise also reads in (in multiplexed form) the axis information from both mouse ports.
