the cleanlight rgb is a user changeable led mod for your game boy advance light up your consoles buttons with any color button and brightness including changing single button colors installation the install is very simple soldering down the cleanlight into position, and adding a power board (this will be integrated into the ribbon on the next revision) if you prefer watching installs and guides instead of reading, the is a stream of me installing and showing off the cleanrgb here the first step is to pre tin the pads tp0/1/2/3/4/5/6/7/8/9 and apply tape over the vdd5 pad next, lay the pcb down and align them all with the pre tinned holes now apply flux (important) to each pad, and solder them to the pre tinned pads underneath don't forget the ground pad that we didn't pre tin as it is easier to solder it in without tinning due to the large pad size it is inbetween the fpc connector and 2 resistors next take the included power board (this will get integrated into the ribbon on the next revision) and stick it onto the cpu using the double sided tape already applied the kit includes 3 wires pre stripped at the ends, however i recommend trimming the wire down a little so it doesn't touch other parts of the pcb when soldering now solder gnd (black) to ground , in (yellow) to the 5v pad (do not apply heat for long as the tape you applied to the 5v pad on the gba is underneath this and we don't want it melting), and out (red) to the bottom right pad of the transformer position is important for the red wire, as it passes between the dpad and start/select rubber area make sure the red wire runs exactly where shown to prevent touching the rubbers when installed it should now look like this usage when you first power on the cleanlight you should see it load up into a rainbow color palette a quick overview of the menu and usage is in a table below, followed by a more detailed explanation below you can always watch the stream on how to use them button combo press time function start + select long enter menu select long exit menu left / right short change color palette up / down short/long change brightness lt short toggle reactive mode b long master reset a long custom mode \[in custom mode] a long exit custom mode \[in custom mode] any button short cycle available colors \[in custom mode] lt long previous color palette \[in custom mode] rt long next color palette entering menu to edit anything about the leds, first hold start + select for a few seconds this will make the select led start pulsing this pulsing means you are in the editing menu and can adjust the leds color, brightness and reactivity exiting menu once you are done, exit this menu by holding just select for a few seconds the select will stop pulsing and now you are back to normal mode changing color palette to change colors first enter the menu (hold start + select until select pulsing), then using the dpad you can change the colors to pre defined colors simply press left and right on the dpad to cycle color modes there are many color modes to suit many shell and button colors, including all the primary colors, pastel color shades, and light/darker shades too one of my favorites is the magenta once you are happy with the color exit the menu holding select until it stops pulsing changing brightness to change brightness, enter the menu (hold start + select until select pulsing), then press and hold up or down to adjust brightness right the way from fully off to 100% you can have them fully off for a stealth look reactive mode a cool feature is reactive mode this allows you to have your buttons react when you press them so if the button is released it is the color you selected, however if it is pressed it changes to a complimentary color here is an example where the green button turns cyan when pressed to enable the mode simply enter the menu (hold start + select until select pulsing) and press lt to toggle the mode on and off exit the menu once done custom color profile the final mode is the ultimate mode for customization if you want to set every button to its own specific color you can enter the menu (hold start + select until select pulsing) and then hold a for several seconds until all buttons pulse (not just select) congratulations your now in the most advanced customization mode in this mode, pressing any button breifly changes its color (they cycle through all available colors) allowing you to set every button to its own color if you want to start off in a pre defined color palette such as red, simply long press the lt button or rt button to cycle the pre made color profiles and set your buttons all to the same starting color after that, simply short press any buttons to customize them again it is recommended to make sure reactive mode is off while you customize the buttons otherwise it can get confusing as you press to change colors they are in their reactive color not the one they are once released the only difference here is to exit this menu , you don't hold select, instead hold a for several seconds to save the settings once you do this all leds stop pulsing and you are back out of all menus and in normal mode master reset if for any reason you want to reset the color palettes and entire cleanlight to factory, enter the menu (hold start + select until select pulsing) and then hold b for several seconds until all the leds pulse once now turn off and on the console
