Change Language (GameCube)

2min

The GameCube can have its language changed easily from Japanese to English by removing or installing a single resistor.

Open the console and get down to the underside of the main motherboard.

Remove the heatsink from over the CPU.

Located on the edge of the CPU, on the side that is near the screw hole between the CPU and AV port, there are two resistors, R5 and R6.

When 3.3V is detected on LANG pin then GameCube is set for NTSC-J region.

When 0v is detected on Sense then GameCube is set for NTSC-U.

As you can see from the above image, as there is no pull down on the LANG pin it is pulled to 3.3V by R5 and setup as Japanese NTSC-J.

The change this to English NTSC-U (USA), bridge R6.

NOTE: This only changes the Lanaguage, it does not unlock the console in any way.

To unlock the consoles region units a Picoboot or similar.
